City of Hamilton

Picture
Welcome to Hamilton.  This growing city has over half a million people and continues expanding every year.  It is the home of internationally recognized schools such as McMaster University, Mohawk college and Columbia College and continues to be a leading Canadian city in education.

Ranked as third large city in North America for quality of life by FDI magazine (publication of world-famous Financial Times), Hamilton is an excellent place to live and work.

Hamilton has traditionally been the leader in Ontario for advanced manufacturing, and as of late both the healthcare and life science fields have really taken off.  It's been ranked as the third best place in English Canada to do business in by Canadian Business Magazine in 2008.

Hamilton has many beautiful natural areas to explore.  It has gone from the name 'Steeltown' to the 'City of Waterfalls' as a testament to the 100 waterfalls within it's boundaries.  There is also the Royal Botanical Gardens in the suburb of Burlington that is a popular tourist destination.

The Hamilton International Airport provides great transportation to Canada, U.S, and the Caribbean/Mexico.

Right now is an exciting time for Hamilton as it's preparing to host the 2015 Pan-Am Games with Toronto.  There are new sports facilities being planned and construction starting soon, with new transportation systems also being built and upgraded.

Hamilton is at the center of the Golden Hoseshoe and is about a 45 minute drive from Toronto to the East and about an hour's drive to Niagara falls to the West.  The GO transit is also a great alternative to get to these two popular Canadian cities.  It's also about an hour and a half drive to Buffalo NY, USA.
